Estamos de vuelta... ahora con el tercer modelo de cuadrado que usaremos para la manta... Esta vez es un punto canasta (cesta) o Basketweave...  Trabajé igualmente con 42 pa de base, pero en este caso yo utilicé una aguja de 5.00 mm (US H/8) porque tiendo a tejer más ajustado cuando hago puntos en relieve como en este caso.  Verifique la tensión y decida el tamaño de ganchillo más apropiado para seguir obteniendo cuadros de 25 x 25 cms.

We're back...now with the third square pattern for our blanket... This time I chose a basketweave stitch.  This is done using a combination of Front Post and Back Post double crochet.  I started with 42 chainless double crochet (as with the previuos squares), but in this case, after mounting the first row of stitches I switched to a bigger hook (I used a US size H/8 or 5.00 mm. crochet hook), because I tend to crochet tighter when doing front post or back post stitches.  Verify your gauge and decide on the appropriate hook size to obtain the desired square size (25 x 25 cms.)

Aquí está la gráfica para el segundo cuadro.  Este está compuesto de unos cables cruzados realizados en pa en relieve por delante .  En este caso el espaciado entre cables es de 2 pa, pero podrían ser 3, 4 ó 5, dependiendo del gusto de cada uno.  

Como con el primer cuadro, los 42 puntos iniciales son puntos altos falsos.  Visita el blog de Sonia María donde encontrarás explicaciones detalladas de cómo realizar este punto.

Si planeas hacer una manta con estos cuadros, recuerda chequear la tensión y comenzar todos los cuadros con el mismo número de puntos.  Si fuera necesario utiliza un ganchillo de mayor o menor tamaño.

Here's the graph for the second square.  This one has several rows of cables made up with front post dc stitches.  In this case, the spacing between the cables is 2, but you could choose any number of dc to put in between the cables.  

As with the first square, the base row  for this one are chainless double crochet stitches.  I started the square with 42 stitches.

If you are planning to make a blanket out of these squares, remember to check your gauge and start with the same number of stitches each time.  If necessary switch to a bigger or smaller hook so that all squares match in size.

Cuadrado punto X / Cross Stitch Square

Aquí está el primer cuadrado y sus instrucciones.  Está hecho con lana de grosor medio y ganchillo 4.25mm. Yo comencé con una base de 42 puntos altos falsos (ponto alto falso).   En el patrón (haz click en el link al final de este post) encontrarás un link para un video que demuestra cómo hacer estos puntos iniciales y aunque está en inglés las imágenes son muy claras, o visita el blog de Sonia Maria donde también encontrarás una explicación de como realizar este punto .

Here's the first square and its pattern.  I used DK yarn and a 4.25mm crochet hook (US size G/6).  I started with 42 chainless double crochet stitches.  In the pattern( click on link at end of this posting) you will find a link for a video demonstrating how the chainless double crochet is done.

Cuadrados para una manta / Squares for a blanket

El colegio de mis hijos ha organizado un "concurso" de tejido para ayudar a los damnificados del terremoto en Japón.  Son muchas las personas que carecen de abrigo y la meta es enviar la mayor cantidad de mantas tejidas.  Como no todos pueden tejer una manta (por restricciones de tiempo o habilidad) han pedido cuadrados de 25x25cms.

Yo quiero hacer la manta completa.. ésta se compone de 25 cuadros.... así que decidí tejer 5 motivos diferentes.  Ya llevo cuatro modelos (los que aparecen en esta foto) y me faltaría uno más por crear...

Iré compartiendo con ustedes los gráficos de cada cuadrado por si tienen interés en hacer algo parecido y luego les mostraré la manta terminada...

My kid's school is organizing a kind of  knitting and crochet "contest" to benefit the people of Japan that suffered great loses with the recent earthquake.  The goal is to provide them with warm blankets and since not everybody has the skill or time necessary to make a blanket they are requesting 25x25cm squares.

I want to do a whole blanket (which is to be composed of 25 squares)... so I decided to make 5 different square patterns and then combine them into a blanket.   I've already decided on the first 4 patterns (the ones on the picture above)... only one more to go...

I'll be sharing the instructions and graphs for these squares shortly, should you wish to make some  of them..
